BROAD COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Broad Community Support

For years, Snowmass voters and leaders have been clear: workforce housing matters. Support for workforce housing in Snowmass is strong and consistent.

  • 89% of residents say increasing housing is important (2022 Town of Snowmass Village Community Survey).
  • 61% of Snowmass voters supported a property tax increase for affordable housing (2024 Pitkin County Ballot Measure 1A).
  • 61% supported employee housing at the Draw Site (2024 Town of Snowmass Village vote).
  • The TOSV Planning Commission voted unanimously in favor of SHOP, and Town staff confirmed it aligns with the Comprehensive Plan and Council goals

Voters and community leaders have repeatedly affirmed that workforce housing is a priority.

Limited Opposition

A small number of adjacent homeowners oppose the project. In response, the plan has been reduced in size and now includes $1.3 million in safety and transportation improvements.

Town Council has said the location isn’t perfect but unfortunately, the options in Snowmass are extremely limited. They also want to hear all voices, and they haven’t yet heard clear support from the broader community.

If you love to ski and want to support the people who make it happen, please act now!

The Impact of Not Moving Forward

Stopping the SHOP project would mean:

  • More employees commuting from downvalley
  • Continued pressure on the public housing waitlist
  • Greater strain on operations—including potential lift closures
  • Fewer opportunities for Aspen School District teachers to live near their students

The need for housing has been clearly established. The question now is whether responsibly designed, privately funded housing can move forward.
